Lets get cooking!
We start with Japan. I made two Japanese meals today. For lunch, I made Unadon - a rice bowl with unagi and kabayaki sauce:
Very easy to prepare as the unagi comes prepackaged. Steam the eel in sake and serve over rice with kabayaki sauce made from 2 parts soy sauce, 2 parts mirin, and 1 part sugar.
For dinner, I made Hiyashi Chuka, a cold pasta salad.
First, I made soba buckwheat egg noodles:
Then I cut strips of ham, cucumber, and sweet fried egg and arranged with the boiled pasta on the plate dressed with nori, sesame seeds, pickled ginger, and a dressing made from rice vinegar, water, soy sauce, sugar and sesame oil.
Both were delicious.
